Revenue & profit
Fee-aware contribution margin for Shopify and Amazon
Gross revenue stepped down to the number that reconciles to your bank account — after platform fees, currency conversion, COGS, and ad spend. Shopify Analytics and Amazon Seller Central each show revenue; neither shows this.
The problem
Every platform reports a different revenue figure and none of them subtract the other side, the fees in full, or your advertising. Founders end up rebuilding a spreadsheet every month to answer "what did we actually make?"
How Sellrics does it
Sellrics reads orders, settlements, and ad spend from every platform you connect, normalizes each fee type (Shopify payment fees, Amazon referral and FBA fees) and converts everything to one reporting currency at daily FX (backend/api/revenue.py). The Revenue P&L view (and the revenue-bridge and fee-breakdown views) then show a single waterfall: gross → −fees → −FX → −COGS → −ad spend = contribution margin, with net profit below it and WoW / MoM growth beside it.
What the numbers mean
Contribution margin is revenue minus every variable cost tied to a sale, as a percentage of net revenue. Net profit subtracts the remaining fixed costs you have entered. A completeness flag marks the figure "estimated" if COGS is missing for a SKU or fees are not yet settled — Sellrics shows "incomplete" rather than a wrong number.
A worked example
Illustrative example- Scenario
- A brand does $1.30M gross in the month — $850k on Amazon, $418k on Shopify.
- What Sellrics surfaces
- After $208k in platform fees, $516k COGS, and promos, contribution margin lands at $546k — 43.1% of the $1.27M net. Amazon carries the volume; the P&L waterfall shows where each $100k between gross and net went.
- The move
- Watch contribution-margin percentage, not gross. A 10% gross-revenue month can be a flat-profit month if the fee mix shifted toward Amazon FBA.
