Profit by SKU, after fees, COGS, and returns

Every SKU ranked by contribution margin, with its return rate and units beside it — and a per-channel split so a product that wins direct and loses on Amazon is obvious.

The problem

Revenue-ranked bestseller lists hide the SKUs that break even or lose money once marketplace fees and returns are netted out. You reorder them because they "sell well".

How Sellrics does it

Sellrics computes per-SKU economics — revenue, fees, COGS, allocated returns cost, gross and net margin (backend/api/sku_profitability.py, backend/api/products.py) — and ranks by contribution margin. The SKU × channel matrix splits the same SKU across Shopify and Amazon so you can see where it makes money and where it does not.

What the numbers mean

Net margin percent is the SKU’s revenue minus its fees, COGS, and allocated returns, over its revenue. A negative number means the SKU costs you money on every order. "COGS loaded" tells you whether the margin is measured or estimated for that SKU.

A worked example

Illustrative example
Scenario
Ten SKUs, from SE01 at $420k revenue down to FBA-SE01 at $18.7k.
What Sellrics surfaces
SE01 nets 33.4% margin. FBA-SE01 nets −15.3% — its $18.7k revenue costs $18.8k in COGS before a single fee. SE23 scrapes 13.3%. The revenue ranking would never surface FBA-SE01 as the problem it is.
The move
Discontinue or reprice the negative-margin SKU, shift reorder budget to the 30%+ margin SKUs, and check whether the thin ones are thin on one channel or both.
